With an increase in the number of variants of the virus, we are seeing an increased amount of surge testing being conducted. Surge testing is designed to prevent an outbreak of any particular variant and is an additional barrier to allowing the infection to spread.

Should the postcode you live or work in be selected for surge testing the following information applies:

  1. Surge testing does not mean a lockdown
  2. Testing stations will be set up locally using the PCR testing method, please book through your local authority website
  3. Everybody aged 16 years and over who resides or works in these postcodes is strongly encouraged to take a COVID-19 PCR test, whether they are showing symptoms or not
  4. You may still attend college unless you or a close contact have tested positive
  5. Utilise home testing kits provided by the college if you are concerned prior to attending a PCR test
  6. Continue to test twice weekly using at home tests as a normal routine.

It is still really important to follow the safety & hygiene protocols: Hands | Space | Face. We all need to make sure we protect ourselves, our family, friends and others by regularly washing our hands or using hand sanitiser, wearing face coverings (unless exempt) and respecting social distancing wherever we are.

Thank you.
